The Junghans RC2, introduced in 1988, is a modernist vintage analogue quartz clock that synchronizes with a radio time signal transmitted from Rugby, UK, ensuring accurate timekeeping by adjusting itself at hourly intervals. This feature was particularly advanced for its time, offering users the convenience of not having to manually set or adjust the time.

Junghans, is a renowned German clock and watch manufacturer, was founded in 1861 by Erhard Junghans and Jakob Zeller-Tobler in Schramberg, in the Black Forest region of Germany. Initially focusing on producing clock parts, Junghans quickly expanded to manufacturing complete timepieces. By 1903, the company had become the largest clock manufacturer in the world, employing over 3,000 workers and producing more than 3 million timepieces annually.

The company adopted its iconic eight-pointed star logo in 1890, symbolizing a gear wheel, which remains in use today. Junghans began producing wristwatches in 1927 and later expanded its range to include timepieces for both civilian and military markets. In the 1950s, a collaboration with Bauhaus-trained designer Max Bill led to the creation of iconic designs such as the "Kitchen Clock with Timer" and a series of watches that continue to influence Junghans' product line.

Junghans achieved several technological milestones, including introducing the world's first radio-controlled table clock in the late 1980s and the first radio-controlled wristwatch in 1990. In addition to its technological advancements, Junghans served as the official timekeeper for the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, further cementing its reputation for precision and reliability.
