Lovely vintage ceramic bowl, server, or soup tureen from the 1970s by Hans-Theo Baumann for Porzellanfabrik Schönwald featuring retro space-age purple motifs on classic white.

The Schönwald Porcelain Factory (Porzellanfabrik Schönwald) was founded in 1879 by Johann Nicol Müller, who converted his sawmill into a porcelain factory. Starting with two kilns, the factory expanded to seven kilns and 340 employees by 1896. Following Müller's death, his sons Friedrich and Michael took over and transformed it into a joint-stock company in 1898.
In 1927, Porzellanfabrik Kahla acquired Porzellanfabrik Schönwald AG. After World War II, when Germany was divided, Kahla's head office moved to Schönwald. In 1959, the factory modernized by replacing old round kilns with three tunnel kilns. Schönwald merged with Hutschenreuther AG in 1972, and in 1976, a new factory was built to consolidate previously separated production facilities.
Schönwald has built a strong reputation for high-quality porcelain catering to the hotel, catering, healthcare, and transportation industries, known for its elegant and timeless designs.
