Gorgeous set of 2 vintage candle holders from the 1960s by Fritz Nagel & Werner Stoff and produced by BMF Bayerische Metallwarenfabrik in West Germany. The design launched to great worldwide success. Made in white lacquered nickel.

STORY:
At the age of 35, Nagel met architect/artist Werner Stoff and their shared passion for great design sparked a creative match that would go down in history. The idea for their project was born of an accidental impression made by Nagel following a fall in the Alps - leaving three perfect finger holes in the snow. Inspired, Nagel pitched the idea of a three-pronged candle holder to Stoff and Stoff, in turn, created a three-legged holder topped with three moon-inspired domes. Designed to stand-alone or stacked one upon the other.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
Hans Nagel was born on the outskirts of Cologne in 1926. Hans and his brothers spent difficult years collecting empty American cartridge cases to be transformed into ashtrays, cases, and candleholders as the family tried to scrape out a living in post-WWII Germany. After studying at the Cologne Art School, Hans eventually took on the role of CEO at his family's small metalwork company.
