An award-winning 1981 masterpiece by Dutch architect Mart van Schijndel. The "Delta" vase is a radical exploration of geometry, constructed from three precision-joined glass panes. This specific piece is hand-signed and dated 1981 by the artist, a hallmark of early authentic production.
Held in the permanent collection of the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, this is a cornerstone of Postmodernism. Its frosted, triangular form changes entirely depending on the viewing angle, creating a play of light and shadow that defines a room.

STORY:

Unlike any other glass vases from blown glass, this vase is composed of three rectangular glass plates bonded together. A corner is cut off from each plate.
The minimalist simplicity of the extremely copied Delta Vase brought Van Schijndel international recognition. In 1984 the Delta vase won the 5th Arango International Design Contest, Glass that Works in Miami.
The Delta vase has received numerous international awards. It can be found in world-renowned museum collections such as the MoMA in New York, the Neue Sammlung in München, and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.

Dutch architect and designer Mart van Schijndel (1943-1999) had his own architectural firm from 1968 until his passing in 1999. He has been the name behind a considerable number of architectural and interior design projects, for which he also designed much of the furniture and lighting. Geometric shapes and clear simplicity characterize his work. He was always keen to experiment with new materials and techniques, often finding simple solutions to complex problems. In 1995 Van Schijndel received the Rietveld award for his private home at Pieterskerkhof in Utrecht.
