Plastimat foldable vanity cabinet in flame-red and beige plastic, Czechoslovakia, 1970s. A cylindrical drum that closes into a compact Ø28cm unit and unfolds into a full vanity station 65cm wide, the circular mirror pivoting upright from the centre as the two halves open to reveal the interior compartments.
Plastimat was a Czechoslovak state plastics manufacturer producing household and consumer objects through the 1960s and 1970s. Czech industrial design of this period operated largely anonymously under state enterprise production, with individual designer attribution rarely recorded on consumer goods.
The cabinet opens and closes correctly, the mirror pivot is intact and functional, and the snap closures hold. One interior shelf is missing. Good vintage condition with light surface marks consistent with age.
