It was designed to heal. Pointed at sore muscles, tired shoulders, aching joints. A lamp that asked nothing of you except to sit still and let the light do its work.
Vintage 1960s Philips Infraphil infrared table lamp, model HP 3603. The design features a dome UV reflector on a pivoting bakelite mount supported by an ivory lacquered wire frame, the original red infrared bulb intact.
The design is attributed to Charlotte Perriand, the French architect and designer whose long career produced some of the most celebrated modernist furniture and objects of the 20th century, including collaborations with Le Corbusier and Jean Prouvé.
Sold as a decorative collector object.
