A pair of 1970s wall sconces by Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB, Markaryd, Sweden, with crystal glass elements produced by Orrefors. Each sconce carries a rectangular brass backplate from which horizontal brass arms extend, supporting a cluster of faceted crystal glass pieces. The brass has the warm, slightly burnished tone of sixty years of careful use. The crystal catches and breaks light across the wall behind it.
Hans-Agne Jakobsson founded his own company in 1951 and became one of Sweden's most celebrated lighting designers, known for fixtures that produced softly diffused, atmospheric light. The Orrefors collaboration placed his brass hardware alongside one of Sweden's most prestigious glass manufacturers.
