One of the most recognisable silhouettes in Dutch vintage lighting, the heksenhoed (witch hat) pendant by Dijkstra Lampen of Haarlem, in rare all-white opaline acrylic.
Founded in 1922 by Fokke Dijkstra in Haarlem VNTG, Dijkstra Lampen grew into one of the Netherlands' most celebrated lighting manufacturers, operating showrooms in Amsterdam and The Hague and carrying over 1,500 designs at its peak. Fokke Dijkstra was awarded the Order of Orange-Nassau in 1961 in recognition of his contribution to Dutch industry and design. The company's acrylic pendant range from the late 1960s and 1970s represents the pinnacle of their Space Age design output and remains among the most collected Dutch vintage lighting today.
The heksenhoed form sits within a broader conversation between Dutch and Scandinavian modernism. The swept conical shade drawing direct formal comparison to the iconic Semi pendant by Claus Bonderup and Torsten Thorup for fog and Morup Denmark. Where the Semi is a design world icon, the Dijkstra heksenhoed is its Dutch counterpart, produced with the same formal rigour and material quality but far rarer on the secondary market.
This example is in excellent condition. The white opaline acrylic shade is clean with no yellowing, cracks, or repairs. Professionally rewired with a new E27 fitting and ceiling cap. Ready to install.
