A fully intact 1970s UFO pendant from Massive Lighting Belgium with brown outer shell and geometric cutouts over a translucent inner layer, the combination producing a warm striped light pattern that is the signature of this form.

Massive Lighting, founded in 1926 in Wilrijk near Antwerp, was among the most prolific Belgian lighting manufacturers of the postwar decades. This pendant dates from their Space Age peak, a period when the factory pushed hard into plastic construction and bold formal experimentation for the residential and contract market.

The rise and fall mechanism is original and functional. The coiled cord shows age-related drying consistent with five decades of storage and sheds small plastic fragments when the mechanism is operated, this is disclosed for transparency. All other hardware is original: E27 fitting, ceiling cap, handle and rolly mechanism intact. The shade itself is in good vintage condition with normal surface wear and no cracks, warping, or deep scratches on either layer.

• Dimensions: Ø 40 x H 23 cm (Ø 15.7 x H 9 inches).
• Light source: E27 (not included).
• Made in Belgium.
